There are endless tips to help improve your business’ social media, however we’ve hand-picked 5 important ones to share with you. Whilst these tips may seem basic, you’d be surprised at just how many businesses fail to get the basic framework to building a successful social media page right. So, we’re here to help!
These tips will assist in your business having a successful social media profile.
1. USE THE SAME HANDLES ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS
Keep your social media handles the same as or as close as possible to your url. For example deesgraphicdesign.com | facebook.com/DeesGraphicDesign | Instagram: @DeesGraphicDesign | Pinterest @DeesGraphicDesign.
From a branding point of view, this keeps your branding consistent, clean and also makes it easy for your consumers/fans to remember or find you when searching (removed text) online.
2. ENSURE ALL INFORMATION IS UP TO DATE
Make sure each of your social profiles are complete with up to date information. This means a completed bio on Instagram and each section of your Facebook page filled out with the correct information!
When you add or update any information, be sure to double check it for any errors! There’s nothing worse than a broken link or out of date information. To stay on top of it, you must be on top of it… at all times!
3. PLAN YOUR POSTS
Don’t be that guy who randomly scrolls through their camera roll and uploads a semi-relatable image/video to their business page with a shi*^y caption! Take control of your social media and plan your posts!
Make it your goal to plan for a full 7 days ahead including high-quality visual content and captions to go with each post. If you’re really good, put together a ‘skeleton’ for the month ahead, including notes on what you plan to post next to each date.
P.S One social media post should take you a minimum of 10 minutes to put together!
4. KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE
Would you read 50 Shades of Grey to a 3 year old? Probably not (and if you do, you probably need some other kind of professional help)! Whenever planning your content, be sure to create content based around your audience’s interests!
Step one is to know exactly who you are targeting. Are they male or female? Where are they from? How old are they? What are their favourite brands? What do they like to do on a weekend?
Make sure you use the ‘Insights’ feature on your Facebook page to gain insight on your audience. Click ‘People’ to view the gender, age and location of your audience. The same should be done via Instagram if you have a business profile, via the Insights feature.
5. ENGAGE WITH YOUR COMMUNITY
This is where so many businesses fail! Engaging with your audience is absolutely mandatory. It not only gives you a chance to develop a relationship with your audience, but allows them to feel connected to your brand! When you can make someone feel like they relate to something, the magic begins to happen… conversion from fan to sale!
On this, your initial goal on social media should not be to sell! First and foremost, use social media as a brand awareness platform for your brand… the sales, they come later!
Good luck fellow socialite.
